Yahoo India Launches Lifestyle Segment, Expands Local

Yahoo India has quietly rolled out a Lifestyle segment, covering Beauty & Fashion, Relationships, Wellness, People, Home & Decor, Life & Work. Yahoo's following the policy of syndicating and curating content on its portal. Much of their content appears to be in partnership with the India Today group, via syndication deals: India Today, Cosmopolitan India and Prevention, and from the news daily Mail Today, which doesn't have a website. Content is also syndicated from Marie Claire India, newswire services ANI and IANS, as well as Yahoo Lifestyle UK, which has its own syndication deals. There isn't much original content yet: some from Clint Thomas, who has been blogging at the Yahoo FitToPost blog. The site appears to be still in the works: some links don't work. Earlier, Pluggd.in had reported that Yahoo India had expanded its 'Yahoo Local' folio to now cover 15 Indian cities: It had launched in 2008 with local business information on four cities - Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai - and now also includes recent additions Chandigarh, Cochin, Coimbatore, Goa, Lucknow and Ludhiana, apart from Hyderabad, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Pune, Allahabad and Jaipur. It's been a rather slow expansion for Yahoo India Local, and there doesn't appear to be any integration with Call Ezee, a phone based local information service that Yahoo picked up 30% stake in, in 2008.
