Online grocery delivery company Grofers has partnered with fintech platform Simpl to add a postpaid payment feature on its platform. The feature extends to select customers currently, and will be extended to all its customers, the company said in a statement. The new postpaid billing feature will let customers purchase grocery at any time during the month and pay the entire amount with one bill at the month-end - like you do for a postpaid mobile connection, or a credit card. Note that users need to have a separate Simpl account to avail this feature. Shashi adds: Simpl competes with similar companies like PayU India's LazyPay and epayLater that provides a pay later option for customers through tie-ups with e-commerce platforms and food tech companies. Flipkart also started testing a Pay Later option for select customers. PayU’s competitor PayPal also has a product which offers credit to buyers to complete a purchase and pay later. Grofers' Payment Methods The company had partnered with employee benefits company Sodexo early this year as one of the payment methods for grocery delivery. In October, Sodexo and Grofers allowed IVR based payments, which means that users who have Sodexo’s Meal Card can call a toll-free number where users will be directed to enter their bill invoice number, card number and CVV. The customer and the delivery agent will get a message confirming the payment via SMS.
