Outside India, the program is available in UAE and Portugal and the company said that it will launch the product in Australia, Philippines, and Indonesia later this year. The company said that Zomato Gold has 3,50,000 members overall.

Zomato Gold allows a customer, depending on the restaurant, a complimentary food item of the same or lower value as the food item ordered, or 2 complimentary drinks for every 2 drinks ordered. The complimentary drink will be the same as what has been ordered and is not applicable to pitchers, buckets and full bottles. The food offer is not valid on special menus, thalis, buffets and set menus. Note that there must be at least two people on the table to avail Gold benefits and that Zomato Gold is not valid on Valentine’s Day, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day. It’s also not valid for home delivery or takeaways, and cannot be clubbed with other discounts or offers.

Open to all

Zomato Gold was launched in India in November 2017 and since then it was giving membership on flash-sale kind of model, where it was opening the purchase window at regular intervals but only for few hours every month. From last week of April, it switched to invite-only model. However, MediaNama reported that Zomato opened up Zomato Gold,to all users; contradicting the company ’s plans to offer the service only via an invite-only model.

In a statement to MediaNama, Zomato spokesperson Naina Sahni claimed that the company reversed its decision after “receiving feedback” from partner restaurants that subscriptions for Zomato Gold should remain open to everyone who has Zomato installed on their phones. The company said meetings were conducted with partners after the announcement (and the subsequent flash sale). “Post closing the direct sales in the end of April,” said Sahni, “the one common theme/feedback was that all partners wanted more Gold members to visit their restaurants” she added.
