DTH operator DishTV has tied up with Shemaroo to launch a Miniplex, a service that lets users watch Shemaroo’s movie premieres every Friday, reports Indian Television. The subscription service will cost Rs 60 per month and will also showcase other movies, all of them ad free. In November last year, Shemaroo had partnered with Airtel Digital TV to launch Miniplex. Similar to the current partnership, it premieres one movie every Friday and showcases recent movie releases. At the time, Shemaroo said that it planned to launch Miniplex across cable and online platforms in a phased manner in the future. Earlier this month, Shemaroo tied up with Spuul to share catalogs with their respective users. Spuul would offer movies like Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, The Dirty Picture, Sarfarosh, Black, Kaalia, Namak Halal, Shiva, Majboor, Amar Akbar Anthony, Don and Anamik among others from Shemaroo. Hungama partnership: Note that in August last year DishTV had tied up with Hungama to launch a music service called Music Active. The service would feature music across genres like Bollywood, devotional, western, pop etc., along with international hits and classics, ghazals, Bhojpuri, Kannada, Tamil and Carnatic music. VOD platform DishFlix: In August last year, Dish TV launched a new video-on-demand (VOD) service called DishFlix which would allow users to watch ad-free movies. The service will not require an Internet connection and movies would be beamed to DishTV’s set top boxes via satellite.
