Quikr diagnostic app to test quality of used listed phones

quikr (1)

People looking to sell their mobile phones on Quikr will now be able to evaluate the condition and quality of mobile phones through a diagnostic app named QuikrScanner, reports Economic Times. The app runs up to 20 tests evaluating battery condition, camera quality, network-related conditions, etc. A final quality score (out of 100) will be displayed to those looking to buy a phone through Quikr.

According to Quikr, it made the diagnostic app to bring more transparency to transactions of pre-owned mobiles. QuikrScanner app is currently available for Android devices only; it is also available on their mobile site and desktop as well.

The ET report added that the app has already been used in 20% of mobile listings on Quikr. While talking to Medianama, a Quikr representative said that seller can choose to publish the final score of the test (out of 100), along with their ad listing, and that it isn’t compulsory.

When we reviewed the app, we found that the above mentioned tests including 20 different parameters wouldn’t initiate unless there is an OTP (One Time Password) received after logging-in and listing a phone on their portal. Users in GooglePlay store were found complaining about this; mostly because they weren’t able to try the functionality of the app before actually listing a mobile phone on Quikr.

Quikr verified services:As of now, Quikr claims to have over 30 million unique users a month and to be present in 1,000 cities across the country. The classifieds company is able to garner a significant amount of users by introducing Quikr-verified services that adds a guarantee of value to the products being listed on their site.

Other developments:

– Quikr introduced a free vehicle inspection service to users on its platform, through a tie-up with Carnation Auto in February 2015. This helped Quikr kick-start a stand-alone classified site named QuikrCars where users can search for and buy new and used cars, bikes and other vehicles like trucks, in August 2015.

– In April 2015 Quikr introduced direct purchases via its website, wherein the classified provider resolved to take care of end-to-end sales, including collecting payments, home delivery and provide money back guarantee.

– In January 2015, Quikr launched a new instant messaging feature called Quikr Nxt, that enables real time conversations between buyers and sellers. The feature is available on Quikr’s mobile site, desktop site as well as on its mobile app.

Funding: AB Kinnevik acquired a $20 million stake in Quikr through a secondary share purchase, in July 2015. It also raised $150 million from Tiger Global, AB Kinnevik, and Steadview Capital, in April 2015.
