Online classifieds site Quikr has launched QuikrServices, a vertical which will focus on the unorganised sector of service providers in the country, to provide access to buying, rental and leasing across home, travel, financial, health, fitness, beauty and events services, reports BusinessWire. Quikr states that services had become a large category on Quikr, and aims to bridge local offline home services and their online demand. QuikrServices will provide location based results which will include verified listings, service provider call back and info on customer needs to match their requirements. It is also piloting a feature where a user and the service provider can conference through a free and anonymous call, on demand services with a preset price list and a “needs” dashboard to manage conversations with service providers. Quick review: The service could use some polish since after typing my city and area, clicking on "search" did not return any results. Likewise, clicking on a category also did not open that category, instead needing to click on a sub-category under the heading. The company had roped in P. D. Sundar to head QuikrServices in April. Sundar would be responsible for verticalizing Quikr’s services marketplace, as well as marketing and revenue generation in this category. Earlier this month, the company made a strategic investment in AN Virtual Tech, to deepen its operations in the verticals it offered. AN Virtual Tech and WoNoBo, the street-view and mapping portal share a parent in Genesys International, which works as a GIS outsourcing company globally.…
