Video discovery platform iCouchapp has relaunched its Android app with a new interface and new features, reports NextBigWhat. The platform had also launched an iOS app last year, however this has not yet received a facelift. The iCouch app has three main functions, it lets users share and view videos, post on the timeline and features a ‘Hall of Fame’. Users can share videos directly from the YouTube app or paste the URL on the platform to share it. The app claims users can also republish videos from their own servers and that it will add other video platforms like DailyMotion and Vimeo soon. Users can take screenshots when watching videos, which can then converted to memes, polls or quizzes after exiting the video. This can then be shared on the timeline displayed by the app, which lets other users participate in discussions around the video. The Hall of Fame displays the most popular user of the day, encouraging people to share more content. Users that make it to the hall of fame win gifts, for eg the app is offering free rides from Uber to today’s top user. We tried the app and it works as advertised, although it does have a few bugs, like some screenshots taken were not available for editing. Overall the platform seems pretty interesting for sharing videos, although we are not sure if the timeline and hall of fame features are enough to encourage users to migrate from sharing on Facebook, messengers etc., and…
