The Lowdown: Apple Introduces New Retina MacBook Pro Lineup; Mac Pro In December

Besides the new iPad Air and iPad Mini, Apple also refreshed its MacBook Pro lineup, launched Mac Pro and released OS X Mavericks, at a press conference in Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco (US). Here is a quick lowdown on all the OS X related announcements: Free OS X Mavericks Update: After previewing OS X 10.9 'Mavericks' in WWDC 2013 earlier this year, Apple has released the latest OS X update on the Mac App Store. What's interesting though is that unlike previous years, Apple is offering OS X Mavericks as a free update on the Mac App store for all users running OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and above. The previous version OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion was priced at $19.99 while OS X 10.7 Lion was priced at $29.99. (More on OS X Mavericks features here) New Retina MacBook Pro Lineup: Apple has refreshed its current Retina MacBook Pro Lineup by launching updated versions of the 13-inch and 15-inch notebooks. The company had earlier refreshed its MacBook Air lineup in June 2013. The new 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro is thinner and lighter than its predecessors, with 0.71-inches thickness and 3.46 pounds weight. It runs on fourth generation Intel Haswell processor, 4GB RAM, support for Thunderbolt 2, reported 9 hours of battery life and up to nine hours of iTunes movie playback. The 13-inch notebook will be available in three variants - Rs 99,900 for 2.4 GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor, 4GB RAM and 128GB version, Rs 1,14,900 for the 8GB RAM and 256GB version and Rs 1,34,900 for the 2.6GHz i5 processor,…
