Tata Teleservices Maharashtra Ltd (TTML) has reported losses of Rs 183.71 crore for the quarter ending September 30th, 2012, a 41.1% increase from the loss of Rs 130.21 crore reported for the same quarter last year. The company reported total revenues of Rs 652 crore, a 5% growth from Rs 620 crore in the corresponding quarter of previous fiscal. The EBIDTA stood at Rs 109 crore from the quarter.
The company did not offer any details on the contribution of VAS and Data Revenues to its total wireless revenues for the quarter. Tata Teleservices’ VAS and Data Revenues segment include earnings from its EVDO based (USB data card) connectivity business (Tata Photon), where the company is a leading player, along with Reliance Communications and MTS India. TTML is the sister company of Tata Teleservices Ltd (TTSL), and is operational in Goa, Maharashtra and Mumbai circles, and while TTSL is not listed, the two companies operate mobile services under the Tata Docomo brand.
– Focusing on high value customers, Tata DOCOMO launched postpay plans of Rs 899 and 1299 to offer unlimited voice calls and data services on a monthly basis. Similarly to address the prepay segment RCV 666 allows unlimited local calls on any mobile or fixed-line network with a validity of 30 days.
– While the data is not available for the current quarter, as per an analyst presentation for Q3-FY12 (pdf), TTML had a total of 14.78 million subscribers, of which 7.67 million were CDMA, while 7.11 million were GSM, down from 16.83 million at the end of Q2-FY12, wherein the company had 9.39 million CDMA and 7.44 million GSM subscribers. TTMLs ARPU then was Rs 207, up from Rs 201 in Q2-FY12.
– Also, as per an analyst presentation for Q4-FY12, TTML had 8,928 GSM sites and 3,254 CDMA sites at the end of FY12, up from 5,922 GSM sites and 3,138 CDMA sites at the end of FY11. The company had 1,645 3G sites at the end of FY12, up from 1,492 3G sites in FY11 and 29 towns had high speed Internet access (HISA) at the end of FY12, up from 10 towns in FY11.
