The Blame Game: Raja Says 3G Spectrum Auction Delay Caused By Defence

After announcing the delay in 3G auctioning to post-holiday season, Minister for information and telecommunication A.Raja has written a letter to Pranab Mukherjee requesting help in getting the Defence Ministry to vacate the spectrum. (CIOL)

Full FDI Allowed In Tele-Conferencing and Web-Conferencing Services

The government has decided to allow full foreign ownership of firms providing tele-conferencing and web-conferencing services, with due clearance from FIPB. NYSE listed Premiere Global Services, had already sought FIPB’s permission to invest in the country through its affiliate based in Ireland. (Read more at The Economic Times)

BSNL WiMax Tender

Chennai-based Gemini Communications, Chinese equipment maker ZTE, US-based Harris Stratex and Israeli manufacturer Alvarion have emerged as the four lowest bidders for the supply of 7,000 WiMax base stations to BSNL in the rural areas. Samsung, Huawei and Motorola had also put in their bids but lost out on pricing. (Read more at Business Line)

Viper Networks & BSNL

Viper has signed a 5-year joint venture agreement with Cirilium India Pvt. Ltd. for the exclusive franchise rights with BSNL for pre-paid international calling cards for retail inbound international traffic. This card will enable users to call from any landline, mobile, PC or any VoIP enabled device from countries where it is proposed to be launched. Viper is partnering with Cirilium to own and operate this license. (Read more at W2F.com)

Last Minute Media In deal With TAM For Data & Analysis Services

Media services firm, Last Minute Media Pvt. Ltd, which runs a website, Lastminuteinventory.com (LMI) that enables trade in advertising inventory, has entered into a deal with television ratings firm TAM Media Research Pvt. Ltd to offer data and analysis services. LMI claims that the data from TAM will enable potential buyers to evaluate the inventory and that TAM is to use the platform to market its sector-specific and event-specific analytic reports. MK Anand Joins UTV Broadcast As CEO

UTV Broadcast (Entertainment) channels has appointed MK Anand as CEO who will also head its four entertainment channels – UTV Movies, UTV Bindass, Bindass Movies and UTV World Movies. Vodafone And Jayam Movies’ Talent Hunt

Vodafone has tied-up with Telugu film production house Jayam Movies to host a talent hunt. The selected candidates will star in a forthcoming movie by Telugu director and producer Teja.
