This one's just for the record: MediaNama has learned from sources that BSE listed Geodesic Ltd, a telecom applications company, had acquired PhoneStack Technologies, a Hyderabad based based startup. Geodesic is a telecom applications company, with mobile radio, online and mobile instant messengers. Atul Chitnis, Chief Products Officer at Geodesic Ltd declined to confirm or deny the development, saying that he cannot comment on this since the company is observing a quiet period prior to its financial results. Geodesic will announce its financial results on April 29th. Executives at Phonestack's office weren't sure of how to respond to the question of whether they're a Geodesic company or not. Phonestack co-founder Ashhar Farhan could not be reached for comment at the time of filing this story, but on searching for more info, we noticed that he is also the Chief Architect (Net Telephony) at Geodesic. Do note that we're yet to receive an official confirmation of the deal. Internet Telephony has been on Geodesic's radar - the company had launched an IP based landline phone last year, priced at under Rs. 1500. Last quarter, Geodesic has also announced the acquisition of a Uruguay based company which provides messaging and collaboration solutions for Telecom operators, with deployments across 12 carriers in Latin America, South Africa and Asia.
