Mobile VAS company Spice Digital* has appointed Sabri Amireh as its Senior Vice President. He will be responsible for Spice Digital's business in the Middle East, CIS & North Africa (MENA) region. Amireh will be based out of Dubai and will report directly to Spice Digital's COO - International Business, Lokesh Gupta. Prior to this, Amireh worked at Mahindra Comviva in Dubai for 12 years and played an important role is establishing the company in the Middle East & Africa. Previously, he has worked with Orascom in Egypt and UAE, Cable & Wireless in Qatar, Jordan, Lebanon, Bahrain, Kuwait, Turkey and Yemen. Amireh has over 25 years of experience in the industry and has served in management positions in business development and sales. Over the past five months, Spice Digital has made two acquisitions presumably to boost its flagging services business. Earlier this month, Spice Digital acquired 38.53% stake in the Noida-based online education provider Anytime Learning Private Limited for an undisclosed amount, following which Anytime Learning has become an Associate Company of Spice Digital. In September last year, the company had acquired 26% stake in Bangalore-based startup Vavia Technologies, which operates the SMS-based search engine txtBrowser, for an undisclosed amount. Spice Mobility's revenue from the services business had declined for the whole of FY14 and it had posted revenues of Rs 49.05 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2014, down 7.36% from Rs 52.95 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.
