So DTH is doing what Mobile TV (DMB, DVB-H) was supposed to: Airtel Digital TV has launched DTH services on oddly named "RSTC Super Luxury Volvo" buses plying between Delhi and Jaipur. The service claims to be uninterrupted (which is an issue with TV over mobile networks wherein licensing is according to circles), and offers consumers 70 channels to choose from. It appears that each passenger has a separate screen, like in flights; this is a marked improvement from the existing crappy-movie-at-full-blast-dont-even-think-about-sleeping situation in most buses. As per the release: Airtel digital TV offers its services on a multi TV screen environment using a mobile signal tracking antenna from Raysat. For offering this service Airtel has appointed Integrated Consultancy Services as its System Integrator and service is aimed at targeting State Transports, Private luxury bus operators, SUVs etc. As part of this service and with this multi TV screen integration every seat in the bus has individual DTH connection and each passenger has the facility to watch his own channel of choice out of the bouquet offered."
