[caption id="attachment_137013" align="alignright" width="200"] Amod Malviya[/caption] In a top level rejig, Flipkart's chief technology officer Amod Malviya has relinquished active duty and head of engineering Sameer Nigam has quit the company, reports Economic Times. A spokesperson for Flipkart confirmed the development to MediaNama but declined to give further details. In an email to Flipkart employees, Mukesh Bansal, CEO of the commerce division, said that Nigam is moving from the company to start an entrepreneurial venture in the technology space and that Malviya is moving to an advisory role. It's worth noting that Flipkart appointed former senior director of engineering at Google Peeyush Ranjan as its head of engineering. Ranjan and Flipkart's new chief product officer Punit Soni report to Mukesh Bansal. Bansal had joined Flipkart after it acquired Myntra in May last year. Following the reshuffle, Bansal started heading marketing besides leading all functions related to fashion. He was also made responsible for categories like computers and consumer electronics. At the time, former marketing chief Ravi Vora had been reassigned and tasked with ‘building consumer brands from the ground up’, while Flipkart Marketplace head Ankit Nagori also got a higher profile, and was expected to oversee general merchandise and book-retailing.
