Handset maker Nokia has claimed that its app store Nokia Store has clocked 2 billion downloads in India, of which 1 billion downloads are from Series 40 platform and the touch-based Asha platform. It also added that Nokia Store is clocking 80 million downloads on a monthly basis in India at present. Note that this doesn't include downloads from Nokia's Lumia range of Windows Phone smartphones which are hosted on Microsoft's Windows Phone store. Globally, the store claims to have clocked 10 billion cumulative downloads until now and generating an average of around 15 million downloads on a daily basis. It claims to offer over 148,000 content items for Series 40 devices and is available in over 200 countries, however Nokia hasn't disclosed any split between paid and free apps available on the app store. Interestingly though, Nokia India has told TechCrunch it has witnessed an increase in app purchases since the company inked deals with telcos like Airtel, Vodafone, Idea and Reliance Communications to provide operator billing on Nokia Store, although it hasn't disclosed any specific information on the same. Nokia had inked its first operator billing partnership with Reliance Communications in February 2011 and later expanded it to Airtel and Vodafone in May 2012 and Idea in November 2012.
