The National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) has appointed Anurag Katriar as its new president. Katriar is the CEO of deGustibus Hospitality that runs Indigo Deli restaurant chain. He will replace Rahul Singh, CEO of The Beer Café, whose tenure has come to an end. Katriar was the head of Mumbai chapter of NRAI. Kabir Suri, co-founder of Azure Hospitality that operates Asian chain Mamagoto was appointed vice president. Suri was the head of Delhi NRAI chapter. The appointments were made public on the NRAI's annual general meeting held last week. Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal had taken a dig at Singh, for offering a Gold service on The Beer Café, when the LogOut campaign led by NRAI was going on: I welcome the NRAI president, Rahul Singh embracing the Gold standard at his own restaurants. Welcome to Gold, Rahul! @NRAI_India pic.twitter.com/3TusMm0d3s — Deepinder Goyal (@deepigoyal) August 22, 2019 NRAI claims to represent 5,00,000 small and big restaurants in India, and is governed by owners of 35 restaurants businesses in India. The association was at the centre of the LogOut campaign, in which 1,200 restaurants de-listed from platforms such as Zomato Gold, EazyDiner, and Dineout’s Gourmet Passport against discounts offered on these services. NRAI members sought an end to steep discounting of such platforms, and demanded fair terms and conditions for operations.
