What's the news? Facebook has rolled out a feature which lets users add song snippets to their Instagram and Facebook stories. The library offers snippets of songs across genres. Known as Instagram Music, the feature was rolled out in the US in June 2018. Music deals: In March, Facebook had signed licensing deals with T-Series, Zee Music, and Yash Raj Films to let its users share music through videos, messages and stories on Facebook and Instagram. Instagram Music just launched in India 2 days ago and here's Swiggy putting it to delightful use with a hugely interactive musical story! The many emotions involved in the process of ordering food has been personified with appropriate songs! So well done :) pic.twitter.com/d87uIFudWO — Karthik (@beastoftraal) September 19, 2019 What's Facebook hoping to do? Get users to share more stories on Instagram and Facebook, increase their reach, increase engagement, so Facebook can monetise this with targeted ads on both platforms. TikTok has competition: The most popular such platform, TikTok with 120 million users in India, will now face competition from Facebook's multiple platforms.
