Amazon India head Amit Agarwal is new IAMAI chairman; Netflix India hires Aashish Singh as Director, Original Film

The Internet and Mobile Association of India announced its new team at its 15th Annual General Meeting yesterday, Livemint reports: Amazon's India head Amit Agarwal has been appointed chairperson. He takes over from Rajan Anandan, who was earlier Google’s Southeast Asia and India vice-president. Dhruv Shringi, CEO of Yatra, is the new vice-chairman, taking over from Deep Kalra, founder of MakeMyTrip. Satyan Gajwani, vice-chairman of Times Internet, is the new treasurer. Dr Subho Ray continues to be the president of the association, the report said. The tenure of the new council is two years.  IAMAI is a not-for-profit industry body that represents internet businesses before the government, investors, consumers and other stakeholders. Aashish Singh joins Netflix from Balaji Meanwhile, Netflix India has appointed Aashish Singh as Director, Original Film, a spokesperson for the company told MediaNama. Singh was previously CEO of Balaji Motion Pictures, which he joined in September 2018. Before that, he was vice president, production, at Yash Raj Films, where he spent over 15 years. Like Srishti Behl Arya (Director, International Originals), he will report to Los Angeles. Netflix has announced 22 original films in India, with nine out of those already streaming. Also in the pipeline are: Serious Men, Bulbul, Upstarts, Cobalt Blue, Ghost Stories, Class of '83, Mrs. Serial Killer, Guilty, Yeh Ballet, House Arrest, Kaali Khuhi, Maska and Freedom.
