Ezetap has appointed Byas Nambisan as its CEO, reports the Economic Times. Nambisan was the CFO and SVP of Finance & Operations at the company since June 2014, and was made the interim CEO after Ezetap’s founder and CEO Abhijit Bose left the company to join WhatsApp as its India head in November last year. Nambisan previously worked at Intel for over 14 years as the senior finance controller and CFO, in both India and the US. FortunePay acquisition & funding In June 2017, Ezetap acquired FortunePay, a platform that allowed banks to provide a mix of digital and physical payments. In August 2017, the company raised $16 million from US-based VC fund JS Capital Management, with participation from existing investors Social Capital and Horizons Ventures for sales and marketing and strengthening its enterprise solutions. In August 2015, it raised Rs 150 crore from existing investors Social+Capital, Helion Advisors and Berggruen Holdings and then new investor Horizons Ventures. Our digital payments coverage here.
