Ola appoints Puneet Bhirani as CEO of Ola Fleet and COO of Ola

Ola has appointed Puneet Bhirani as the CEO of Ola Fleet Technologies and the COO of Ola, reports the Financial Express. While the FE report cited sources, Bhirani’s LinkedIn reflects him joining Ola. Bhirani will manage the overall Ola Fleet business and supply and sourcing operations for India. He will replace the current head Sandeep Divakaran who will work with CEO Bhavish Aggarwal on a new initiative, according to the report.

Prior to Ola, Bhirani was the CEO of Digital Risk (Mphasis) for 2 years and the Chief People and Administrative Officer at Mphasis and multiple senior positions for over 15 years. He has also worked with Planetasia and Asea Brown Boveri.

Last month, Pallav Singh, long-time senior VP and interim COO at Ola, quit the company. Singh had been serving as COO ever since Vishal Kaul left the company in May 2018. In fact, Singh was the interim CFO during February 2017, after Rajiv Bansal stepped down from the role.

Ola’s recent funding

Last month, Ola raised $74 million from Steadview Capital in a Series J round, reportedly valuing the company between $5.5-$6 billion. The company had last raised Rs 14.1 crore from Chinese company Eternal Yield International. Prior to that, Ola raised $50 million in September 2018 from Sailing Capital (Hong Kong) and the China-Eurasian Economic Cooperation Fund.
