Industry moves for December 2018

Former MD of Facebook India Kirthiga Reddy has joined SoftBank Investment Advisers, which oversees the Softbank Vision Fund, as its first venture partner. Reddy will be based out of Softbank’s US office and will work with senior managing partner Deep Nishar. They will focus on new technology like AI, robotics, health tech, bioengineering, semis, IoT and quantum computing, among others.

Mahesh Subramanian, former technology chief at ONE Championship and ScoopWhoop, has joined sports app SportsFlashes as CTO. Subramanian will focus on SportsFlashes’ mobile, OTT, data and product innovation teams. He has 20 years of experience including at Intel, Siemens, Marvell, Lucent Technologies and Touchfone technology.

Universal Music has appointed Shantanu Gangane as VP for marketing for India and South Asia. He will be responsible for the growth of international and domestic content and report to Senior VP Vinit Thakkar. Gangane joins the company from VuClip, where he was head of marketing for its OTT platform Viu India. He has earlier been with MTV, Nickelodeon, Radio City, FCB Ulka and Times Network.

Microsoft-owned LinkedIn has appointed Mahesh Narayanan as country manager for India operations. Narayanan will take on the role starting January 7. He was previously managing director for Saavn India until June 2018, and the country head for Google India’s mobile division for 3 years until 2013. He also headed Google India’s mobile advertising business prior to that. Narayanan will report to Olivier Legrand, LinkedIn’s Managing Director for the APAC, and be part of the company’s APAC senior management team.

Delhivery has carried out a senior management shuffle, an internal email by co-founder and CEO Sahil Barua to all employees has revealed.

  • Sandeep Barasia, who came in as joint MD recently, will now fulfil the role of chief business officer. He will oversee three major profit & loss items – parcel, warehousing, and freight.
  • Ajith Pai, who was headed finance will now take on the role of COO. He will look at operations, engineering, human resources and finance. Both COO and CBO are newly created roles at Delhivery.
  • Vice president of finance Amit Agarwal will now be CFO. 
  • The startup has also roped in Mukut Limaye, formerly with Waymo, to lead its engineering innovation team.
