Zomato appoints Chaitanya Mathur to head events vertical Zomato Live

Zomato has appointed Chaitanya Mathur as its global head for the event vertical ‘Zomato Live’. According to Mathur’s LinkedIn, he has been with Zomato since July.

Mathur has been behind several entertainment and event brands. He founded Excited Monkey Entertainment in 2008, where he stayed till 2011. He then co-founded festival platform The Grub Fest in 2014, and also the music portal Bangin Beats in 2011.

Last month, Zomato’s Deepinder Goyal said the service received 21 million monthly food orders in India. Zomato is now present in 38 Indian cities and has increased number of delivery personnel to 74,000 (from 5,400).

Recent hires at Zomato

  • Last month, GT Thomas Philippe, partner at law firm Khaitan & Co., joined the company as general counsel.
  • In July, Zomato appointed Mohit Gupta as CEO of food delivery. Gupta was COO of MakeMyTrip Online and, where he had worked since 2008.
  • The same month, it appointed Rohithari Rajan as the Global Head for its ad sales business.
