Uber (Android only for now) has added Google Pay as a payment method on its platform. It is unclear which cities this has launched in. Users can add their Google Pay UPI ID and clicking 'accept' on Google Pay when Uber’s ride notification is sent out. Users can’t switch to Google Pay as a payment method after the trip has ended, the Uber blog said. In India, users have the option to pay for their Uber rides with Paytm, cash, credit or debit card, UPI, JioMoney and the recently introduced gift cards. We’ve written to the company for more information and will update this if and when we hear from them. Ola Money & UIDAI suspension Ola, meanwhile, has experimented with Ola Money but seems inoperable right now due to suspension of eKYC by the UIDAI in June. At the time, and till the ban is lifted, these services cannot accept new users, and neither can users add money or use the wallet like they usually would [other than paying for services]. After the Supreme Court’s verdict on the constitutional validity of Aadhaar, private companies cannot use Aadhaar as an authentication document. Telcos have also been told to stop using Aadhaar for validating a user’s identity.
