Jio will connect 2K Uttarakhand public schools and colleges by 2020

In a speech in Dehradun, Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani said that Reliance Jio will install WiFi in the state's government schools and public colleges, PTI reports. “All this will help create additional employment and earning opportunities for the people of Uttarakhand. We plan to connect most of the 2,185 government schools and 200-plus government colleges in the state within next two years,” he was quoted as saying. Ambani was speaking at the Uttarakhand Investors Summit. Recent Jio developments As JioGigaFiber starts rolling out, here's some of its recent developments October: In partnership with Facebook, Jio will do a roadshow on digital literacy — specifically on how to use WhatsApp. September: Jio and Hotstar have signed a significant deal that will allow the telco to stream all cricket matches that Star has digital rights to for the next five years. September: Jio launched a new JioPhone, its low budget smartphone that it markets as 'free'. This time around, the phone — reminiscent of mid-2000s BlackBerry handsets — came with WhatsApp and Facebook pre-installed. August: Jio signed an MOU with SBI "to expand their digital partnership and provide a platform offering digital banking, commerce, and financial services to customers".
