Airtel has acqui-hired Bangalore-based AuthMe ID Services. AuthMe's employees will join Airtel X Labs, which works on technologies like VR and the Internet of Things (IoT). Airtel also got the IP for Fintech OCR, which is built to recognize text on KYC documents and bank statements. AuthMe develops Callup, a voice chatbot for customer service that Airtel will incorporate in its business. "We are rapidly scaling up Airtel X Labs, our digital innovation factory, and these new solutions will accelerate our journey towards rolling out intuitive digital products, particularly in vernacular languages," Airtel CIO Harmeen Mehta said. Airtel's recent developments In August, Airtel got approval to offload 15% stake in its Airtel TV DTH arm to Warburg Pincus. Earlier that month, the company announced a carrier billing deal with Netflix. Again in August, Airtel signed a syndication deal with Zee for Zee5. Airtel will be floating its own independent fiber infrastructure company soon. Abhay Sarvgaonkar will head the pre-existing subsidiary.
