Industry Moves roundup: Flipkart, Zomato, MakeMyTrip, Zee5

Industry moves in September 2018

Four senior executives from Walmart have joined Flipkart Group. Walmart’s M&A head Emily McNeal will join Flipkart as Senior VP and group CFO. Others who have joined Flipkart from roles in Walmart are:

  • Daniel De La Garza has come onboard as VP and chief ethics & compliance officer, a role he holds for Walmart in Central America.
  • Grant Coad will join Flipkart as general counsel, he handled regulatory compliance for Walmart Canada.
  • Dawn Ptak will join as VP and group controller from Walmart China.

The four execs will take over their respective roles by October.

PepsiCo’s outgoing marketing head Vipul Prakash has joined MakeMyTrip as COO. Prakash was with PepsiCo since 1998 and was involved in strategy for Mountain Dew, 7Up and Pepsi.

Zee5 has appointed Rajneel Kumar as head of expansion projects and head of products for digital business of Zee Entertainment. Kumar was previously with Viacom18 group as Senior VP of products & technology.

G.T. Thomas Phillipe has joined Zomato as general counsel. Phillipe was partner at Delhi–based Khaitan & Co., where he was head of ecommerce practice. He also worked on M&A, private equity and venture capital.
