Looks like IKEA has pulled down its online catalogue in India after MediaNama reported about it. The site now says that it will launch on 9th July. We will update the post if the new roll-out be any different from what we reported earlier. Earlier on 2nd July 2018: Swedish home furnishings retailer IKEA's product catalogue is now online in India ahead of its 400,000 square feet retail store launch in Hyderabad. According to this ET's interview, the Hyderabad's store is likely to open this month. Meanwhile, it already has an experience centre in Hyderabad, where people can see IKEA's products but cannot buy it. Currently, users can only browse through IKEA products and can check how many such products are in stock in India and in which aisle buyers can find the product in Hyderabad's store. IKEA has e-commerce platform outside of India. Note that, IKEA cannot open e-commerce operations in India as FDI rules do not allow 100% FDI in B2C e-commerce. Foreign players can only use a marketplace model and IKEA does not work on that model. Upon working on e-commerce in India, In an interview, IKEA's deputy country manager-India had told Quartz that, "Yes, we are working on a lot of back-end things—what happens to the flow of goods, return rules, a lot of different things. It is not so difficult to turn on e-commerce as a platform, but how do you sort it out as a platform behind-the-scenes?". It will be interesting to see how online furniture segment…
