Digital platform for local services Sulekha.com has launched a new wedding hub site, which aggregates portfolios, blogs, wedding vendors, Wedding photographers, caterers, bridal make-up artists, mandap decorators, flower decorators, wedding planners, DJs and light music orchestra and Sangeet-Mehendi planners etc. The company said that it already lists nearly 1,200 wedding vendors on the new platform. It adds the wedding services categories was earlier delivering revenues of Rs 50 lakh to Rs 100 lakh p.a. for Sulekha, and the company hopes to grow this by more than 5 times in the next 2 to 3 years. Sulekha's pivot Note that the company started pivoting recently, and adding new services such as wedding services. Sulekha's dedicated platforms may help it to come back in limelight again. The company which was launched in the same year as Flipkart in 2007, lost its sheen to platforms like JustDial, Quikr, Urban Clap and others. According to this VCCircle report, the company reported net loss of Rs 105 crore for FY 2016 after making profits of Rs 22 lakh in the previous fiscal year. Along with it, the company's expense rose to Rs 272 crore in FY 2016 as compared to Rs 154 crore in the previous year. However, in this Yourstory report, the company said that it turned profitable in fiscal year 2017. Competition There are a host of online wedding services providers in the country.
