Facebook app now officially available on the Jio Phone

A Facebook app will now be available on the Reliance Jio phones via the device's inbuilt app store the phone maker announced in a statement. Jio Phone users can download the app now from the JioAppStore. The company said the app has been custom built to run on Jio's KaiOS, which is designed as a hybrid between a smartphone and feature phone operating system. Jio said the Facebook app offers support for push notifications, video, and links to external content in sync with the version available on smartphones. The company's statement also mentions that Facebook app also supports the device's cursor function for features such as News Feed and Photos. Medianama was not able to ascertain what the "cursor function" is exactly. The Jio Phone which was unveiled back in July 2017, is a 4G-enabled feature phone that offers some of the functionality of a smartphone. At the time of unveiling the company had said it plans to sell 5 million devices a week.
