Paytm Payments Bank has appointed Nitin Chauhan as its Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). According to the company, Chauhan will be responsible "for setting up and enhancing the firm’s enterprise security strategies, infrastructure and network design. This also includes securing all lines of network & interoperability for PPB customers, and services across partner banks and financial services." MediaNama has contacted Paytm for a call with Chauhan to understand his top infosec priorities, and we'll update this story in case Paytm responds. It's a little odd that he's been brought in for "setting up" Paytm's enterprise security strategies, because you'd expect Paytm to already have something in place. Chauhan comes from RBL Bank, where he was CISO for 6 years. He has also worked with Kotak Bank in the past. Paytm says it has over 180 million savings and wallet accounts, with Renu Satti as MD and CEO of the Payments Bank. Paytm Founder and CEO, Vijay Shekhar Sharma owns majority stake in the company, and One97 Communications Ltd owns the remaining share.
