Sruthijith KK, the former Huffington Post India editor-in-chief, has now joined Apple as its app store editor. According to his LinkedIn profile, Sruthijith joined the company in September this year and will be based out of Noida. Sruthijith had put his papers down at HuffPost India in August. Sruthijith declined to comment on his appointment when MediaNama reached out to him last week. He was part of the team that started Huffington Post’s India edition in December 2014 with a partnership with the Times of India Group. He was appointed as editor in the same year. Prior to Huffington Post, Sruthijith worked with Quartz India as its founding editor. Before that, he was with the Times of India group, working at the Economic Times. Prior to joining ET, he was with ContentSutra, before which, he was with Mint. Huffington Post and the Times of India Group have called off their partnership in India. One of the reasons that the deal ended was due to editorial strategy interference from Times Bridge’s head of content strategy Thane Richard. The collapse of the deal has left the future of the website uncertain. Currently, Huffington Post has a strength of 13 employees on the editorial side and more employees are expected to leave the organization. In June, Huffington Post laid off 9 employees from the editorial staff across their technology, business, lifestyle and trends verticals.
