Porting requests were submitted for 5.49 million connections in the month of September 2017, according to the Indian Telecom regulator TRAI. This is up 9% from 5.02 million porting requests reported in August 2017. For the month of September, the maximum number of requests in Zone-I (North and West India) were received in Gujarat at 0.79 million, followed by Maharashtra at 0.45 million and Rajasthan at 0.43 million. Jammu & Kashmir which has one of the lowest user bases continues to receive the lowest number of porting requests at 13,617. Note that TRAI does not provide any operator-wise breakdown for these number porting requests. In Zone-II (South and East India), Andhra Pradesh led with 0.48 million number porting requests till date, followed by Karnataka which received 0.43 million requests and Tamil Nadu which received 0.33 million requests. The North East circle saw 12,117 number porting requests for the month, down from 14,290 requests in the previous month.
