Facebook rolls out dedicated app for video content makers

Taking a step closer towards becoming a TV-like platform, Facebook has launched a separate app- Facebook Creator- which will help vloggers or video content creators to create better videos and monetize them in future.

How Facebook Creator app works

The Facebook Creator app offers tools like Live Creative Kit for adding intros as openers to their live broadcasts, outros that conclude them, custom live stickers that viewers can use to interact, and graphic frames for branding.

There is a unified inbox in the app which centralizes comments from Facebook and Instagram, and messages from Messenger, makes it easier for influencers to manage fan base. Besides this, the app lets video makers to crosspost the content to other platforms. The Facebook Creator app also helps video creators to get insights through analytics.

The company said in its blog that creators making a show for Watch, can also log into the app as their Show Page to access these tools. Watch is where it surfaces original video series/shows from a wide range of publishers and content creators.

Besides app, it has also launched a website where creators can find resources and tips on how to create videos, connect with fans, and grow on Facebook.

Focus on Video

During its earnings call this month, CEO Mark Zuckerberg had said that “long term, our hope is that the business here will primarily be through revenue shares of videos that normal creators and businesses put into the system rather than ones that we proactively go out and license ourselves”.  The social network is also reportedly looking to spend $1 billion on original video content, and becoming an exclusive TV hub by next year.
