Sharpening its focus in India, cross platform P2P sharing mobile app SHAREit has appointed Jason Wang as the Managing Director, India and Vice President for Emerging Market. Jason joined SHAREit in August 2017.

The company said in a statement, that with this appointment, it is aiming to attain more user base in India. In his new role, Wang is looking to customize and localize SHAREit for the users in India. The company said that it will also focus more on tier 2 and tier 3 areas in the country.

In a statement Wang said that the company has observed that Indian users mostly prefer sharing video content, music and less apps and games, and that SHAREit is now looking for partnership with local partners for customised offering for users in India. However, it did not share more details on what exactly it will offer, and what kind of partners it is looking at. The mobile app currently has over 300 million downloads in India which is 30% of its total userbase.

Jason Wang began his career as a journalist and worked with media industry for around 10 years. During his journalism career, he looked at Southeast Asia region, and looked after countries like India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Maldives. Thereafter, he was the Editor-in- Chief of Digital publications in Southeast Asia as well as the Director for Overseas Social Media Management. After 10 years of journalism, Jason took up a new role in business and marketing and founded a startup in 2015. He has been associated with India for last nine years. During these years, Wang also provided seed funding to some of the Indian startups.
