JioFi accounted for 91% of the data card market in Q2 2017: CMR

Reliance Jio is trying to dominate the 4G segment in every means possible. It already claims to have over 120 million 4G users as of June 2017, which is the largest 4G-only base in India. Its competitor Airtel, reported 48.9 million broadband (3G+4G) connections in the same quarter. Read it here

How Spectranet topped Netflix’s ISP Speed Index in India

Two months ago, a small ISP in Mumbai called 7 Star Digital conquered Netflix’s ISP Speed Index in India. Back then, we had predicted that 7 Star would stay on top forever. Why? Because 7 Star was a very small ISP, and it had every single one of its customers covered with a Netflix Open Connect Appliance, a cache that Netflix gives to some ISPs so that the streaming service’s content can directly be streamed from the ISP’s own network. In a massive coup, Star India has won global digital and TV rights for the next five years, outbidding competitors like Jio and Sony Pictures by putting up ₹16,347.50 crore in a consolidated bid for rights across these categories. Online cab hailing company Uber has introduced a new ride option called Premier. The option will be introduced as a pilot in Mumbai and Pune first where the company will offer select riders Premier as an in-app product option that serves as an upgrade to their current uberX experience. Amazon India opens its 41st fulfilment centre in Hyderabad

Amazon India has opened its 41st fulfilment centre (FC) in Hyderabad as it increases its capacity for the upcoming festive season. The company says that the new FC is its largest in the country with covers over 400,000 sq ft with close to 2.10 million cubic ft and is located in Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, as reported by Moneycontrol. TRAI’s M2M recommendations: Licenses, Privacy, Entry Fee, Spectrum sharing & more
