Mobile Number Portability requests in India increases to 5.9M in July 2017

Porting requests were submitted for 5.90 million connections in the month of July 2017, according to the Indian Telecom regulator TRAI. This is up 0.5% from 5.88 million porting requests reported in June 2017.

For the month of July, the maximum number of requests in Zone-I (North and West India) were received in Maharashtra at 0.54 million, followed by Rajasthan at 0.51 million and Delhi at 0.39 million. Jammu & Kashmir which has one of the lowest user bases, continues to receive the lowest number of porting requests at 12,327. Note that TRAI does not provide any operator-wise breakdown for these number porting requests.


In Zone-II (South and East India), Andhra Pradesh led with 0.63 million number porting requests till date, followed by Karnataka which received 0.57 million requests and Tamil Nadu which received 0.35 million requests. The North East circle saw 14,260 number porting requests for the month, up from 11,005 requests in the previous month.
