BookMyShow said in its statement that currently 60 talk shows will be available in multiple regional languages, and the company will add new shows every 15 days, and release new episodes of existing shows on a daily or weekly basis.

Aditya Kuber, Associate Vice President-Audio Entertainment, BookMyShow said that through Jukebox, the company wants to identify and promote new talent and work towards building the complete ecosystem around talk radio. For the talk shows the company has as of now roped in Suresh Menon and Jose Covaco for The Suresh & Jose show, and radio jockey Hrishi K.

In terms music, Jukebox will be offering curated playlists by Nikhil Chinapa, Rohit Barker, Brian Tellis among others. BookMyShow has also roped in major music labels such as Universal, Sony Music, Warner, T-Series, Zee, Saregama, Times Music, and Think Music.

The service is currently available on Android and will be available for iOS users soon. Unlike prominent players like Saavn and Gaana, Jukebox allow users to download songs for free, and will not charge a subscription fee. In June, Jukebox saw over 80,000 song downloads and the company claimed that it is witnessing 300% month-on-month growth in the number of downloads.

Speaking with The Economic Times, Ashish Hemrajani, CEO of BookMyShow said that the company believes that subscription model does not give scale in India. “So for monetisation, we are looking at branded content and embeds done in a lucid, frictionless manner for the user,” he added.

ET also reports that that company is also considering partnering with video content platforms through equity and revenue partnerships. “So we will be open to having the audio content on Jukebox and a possible video format on another (external) platform,” Hemrajani told the publication.

BookMyShow had acquired Nfusion last month  to boost its audio entertainment vertical. Nfusion was operating as a video-on-demand platform in the Middle East since 2009 where users could stream videos online.

Jukebox competes with Times Internet’s Gaana, Saavn, Apple Music, Hungama, and Airtel’s Wynk.

In March, Saavn had partnered with One Digital Entertainment to launch an audio show, Hip Hop Highway to feature in-studio sessions and on-site interviews with Indian artists, promoters, labels, producers, and upcoming talent.

Last year in July, Time Internet owned music streaming service Gaana launched its first original audio series (more like a podcast), hosted by film actor Ashish Vidyarthi.
