Ola app will now come pre-installed on Indus OS, the homegrown mobile operating system. Both companies announced a tie up today wherein, Ola’s app-based services will be integrated at an operating system level on Indus OS. This enhances user experience and engagement with the Ola Android app, both companies said in a statement. The Ola app will now be made available in English and 12 other regional languages including Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu and Assamese in Indus OS. Apart from the local language integration, Indus OS is also incorporating Ola’s cab booking functionality within its ‘intuitive’ default messaging app. The default feature can be seen as an icon on the home screen. Upon clicking on this, users will be prompted to choose different types of online apps including Ola. After selecting the Ola icon, the GPS goes ON automatically and the pricing and cab-type details are displayed on the screen for selection. Once the user books a cab, a confirmation message along with driver details is sent as an SMS within the messaging feature. As of now, Indus OS comes integrated on six domestic smartphone brands like Micromax, Intex, Karbonn, Celkon and Swipe and claims to have a base of 8 million users.
