Ecommerce giant Flipkart has promoted Amitesh Jha, the current VP for Mobile, Electronics and Computers as the new head for Flipkart’s logistics arm Ekart, reports Times Of India. Jha fills in the position which was earlier held by COO Nitin Seth. Seth put down his papers in May this year, citing personal reasons.

Amitesh Jha is based in Bangalore, and will be reporting to Flipkart’s CEO Kalyan Krishnamuthy, according to ToI’s report. He has been working with Flipkart since 2010.  According to Jha’s Linkedin profile, he has largely looked at electronics personal computing and mobile operations at the company. Before Flipkart, he has worked with CareerNet Consulting as Business Manager for three years, and before that worked as Senior Business Analyst RSG Media for less than two years. He has also worked as a software engineer for a year with Tavant Technologies. Jha holds a degree of MBA from IIM Ahmedabad, and studied mechanical engineering at IIT Delhi.

Recent Flipkart moves

-This month, Ekart’s chief financial officer (CFO) Harish Ahbichandani quit the company to join Ola Cabs as its new CFO.

-Flipkart also appointed Anil Goteti to head eBay India this month, after Flipkart acquired eBay’s India operations in June this year. Goteti had been Flipkart’s employee since March 2012.

-In January this year, Flipkart announced a top deck reshuffle and moved a group company structure. Accordingly, Tiger Global’s Kalyan Krishnamuthy was appointed as CEO of Flipkart while co-founder Binny Bansal became the Group CEO.

-Note that, this month Flipkart secured investments to the tune of $2.5-2.6 billion from SoftBank’s $100 billion Vision Fund.
