Indian Express Digital CEO Sandeep Amar resigns

A year and two months after he had joined Indian Express Digital as CEO, Sandeep Amar has resigned, reports Afaqs, adding that he will leave the firm by end of August. No replacement has yet been announced. Amar declined to comment on his future plans, saying only that he will inform us when ready.

Amar had joined the company from India.com, where was CEO, having initially joined the business as COO, and was with the company for almost three years. In the past, he has been the head of marketing at Times Internet, where he worked for around five and a half years. He had a brief entrepreneurial stint, where he founded Pikboo.com.

During his tenure at Indian Express Digital, the business launched language verticals in Malayalam, and Tamil. The company has plans to launch online editions in Telugu, Bengali and Kannada as well. They also launched a youth vertical called inuth.com, a health vertical Lifealth.com, ExpressFoodie as a website. The Indian Express also plans to launch paid ad-free plans for readers, although access to content will not be restricted behind a paywall.
