Payments company Razorpay has hired Amit Saini as vice president of engineering. Saini had previously worked at cab-haling company Ola where he served as director of engineering and was instrumental in building their mobile wallet Ola Money. Saini specializes in solving several big data use cases and his appointment is intended to grow product development at Razorpay. Before Ola, Amit worked as a technologist with Microsoft, IBM and Apigee building software products in the areas of e-commerce, web services management and data mining, big data and analytics. He also co-founded a startup, SkillCafe, focused on analyzing huge data and suggesting candidates their next career move. Over the past few months, Ola has seen a number top-level changes - Chief Financial Officer Rajiv Bansal, marketing lead Raghuvesh Sarup, and Chief Operating Officer for offline initiatives Anuj Bhargava have quit the company. - Chief Operating Officer Pranay Jivrajka was replaced by PepsiCo’s Vishal Kaul and was elevated to founding partner. Jivrajka was Ola’s first employee and will now continue to work closely with CEO Bhavish Aggarwal. - Abhimanyu Rawal, the senior manager of Ola’s luxury business left the company. Razorpay's payment gateway helps businesses accept online payments via credit card, debit card, net banking, UPI payments and wallets from their end customers. Razorpay’s investors include MasterCard (undisclosed amount), Tiger Global, and Matrix Partners. In total, Razorpay has raised $11.5 million from investors like Tiger Global, Matrix Partners.
