Deepak Gulati, former CEO of Tata Docomo, has joined Zomato as its President and COO, the company disclosed in a blog post. According to his's LinkedIn profile, Gulati joined Zomato last month. He had been with Tata Teleservices for five years, where he was the Executive President, from December 2008 to December 2013, and led the group's foray into GSM with Tata Docomo, and launched the Tata Docomo brand. From December 2013 to December 2015, he was President of the Chairman Office - Technology Group and Senior Advisor to the Sinaras Group in Indonesia, involved with the rollout of the groups 4G LTE deployment. Gulati has largely been a telecoms executive, having worked with Airtel since its early days, for around eight years, starting in 2008. Gulati joins at a time when Zomato's business is developing a significant offline component (beyond just listings and ad sales), including operating a delivery business, setting up PoS terminals in restaurants, launching a subscription service for restaurants, and running a kitchen service for restaurant partners.
