Hungama partners ITV Studios for British content

Digital entertainment company Hungama has partnered with British commercial production company, ITV Studios. With this partnership, Hungama will offer British content like Jekyll and Hyde, Mr Selfridge, Jericho, Agatha Christie’s Poirot as well as Beowulf, among others to its video on demand service, Hungama Play’s subscribers.

Apart from producing content for its own channels, ITV’s international content business ITV Studios produces content for channels such as BBC, Channel 4 and Sky. Presently operating out of six international locations including USA, Australia, Germany, France, the Netherlands and the Nordics, the studios also produces content for local broadcasters in these regions. Apart from traditional broadcasting, the company claims to be available on 25 different platforms including ITV Hub on its website, itv.com, platforms such as Virgin and Sky, and through direct content deals with services such as Amazon and Netflix. ITV’s digital channels include ITV2, ITV3, ITV4, ITV Encore, ITVBe and CITV. It is worth noting that the company has also made acquisitions in the UK, US, the Netherlands and the Nordics.

itv.com offers content across genres like children, drama & soap, comedy, entertainment, film, news and sport. However, it is not clear if content from all these genres will be available to subscribers of Hungama.

Saavn partners One Digital Entertainment to launch Hip Hop Highway

Music streaming service, Saavn has partnered with One Digital Entertainment to launch an audio show, Hip Hop Highway which will feature in-studio sessions and on-site interviews with Indian artists, promoters, labels, producers, and upcoming talent. According to the release, Hip Hop Highway will have 12 episodes, releasing a 25 to 30 minute episode each Wednesday. Hosted by Raaj Jones, the first episode will feature Indian Rapper Raftaar and British-Indian DJ & Radio presenter Bobby Friction. One Digital Entertainment presently claims to have 2500+ content creators and channel partners. Saavn had raised an undisclosed amount in funding from Guy Oseary, the CEO of Maverick records in June 2016. Prior to that, in July 2017, the company had raised $100 million in a funding round led by Tiger Global and from other existing investors.

nexGTV partners GivingTales for kids content

Subscription-based video-on-demand platform nexGTv has partnered with GivingTales, an illustrative fairy tale narration platform backed by Sir Roger Moore to feature Hans Christian Andersen’s classic fairy tales with voice-overs provided by actors including Dame Joan Collins, Charlotte Rampling, Stephen Fry, Sir Michael Caine, and Sir Roger Moore. GivingTales features stories that revolve around popular folklore. In January 2017, nexGTv had partnered with Lokdhun Telemedia Pvt Ltd to broadcast 138 films including 22 Punjabi movies like Diljit Dosanjh’s Jatt and Juliet 2 and Disco Singh as well as hit Bhojpuri movies of Monalisa, Ravi Kishan and Pawan Singh for users across the globe. In December 2016, the company had also partnered with Mosquitoes Entertainment Pvt Ltd, acquiring worldwide digital rights for its kids content.
