Vuclip’s video-on-demand service, Viu has inked a licensing deal with Shemaroo Entertainment to get access to a catalogue of recent Hindi films such as Sarkar, Black, Ishqiya, Traffic Signal, Bheja Fry 2, and The Dirty Picture, among others. These films will be available on the website and on Android and iOS apps. Shemaroo claims to have a library of over 3000 movie titles and is active in content ownership, creation, aggregation and distribution of content for satellite channels, physical formats, mobile, Internet, broadband, IPTV, DTH, among others. With the spurt in original content among video platforms in the recent times, Viu has also been focusing on its original content library by commissioning and partnering with different production houses and individuals in the content industry. Earlier in February 2017, Viu partnered with Annapurna Studio, a production house for film and TV content and Tamada Media to co-produce a youthful urban entertainer in Telugu titled Pilla directed by Pavan Sadineni. Last month, the platform commissioned two original shows by film director and producer, Vikram Bhatt. Of the two, the supernatural thriller will be called Gehraiyaan while Spotlight will be the working title of the show based on the life of a Bollywood star. In November 2017, the platform launched its a micro original series with Cricketer Virender Sehwag called Viru Ke Funde. Shemaroo's previous tie-ups Shemaroo renewed a content partnership deal with streaming provider Vuclip during the quarter ending December 2016.
