ZEEL’s ad revenues account for 58% of overall income in Q3FY17

Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited’s (ZEEL) advertising revenues increased to Rs 955.4 crore during the quarter ending December 2016 (Q3 FY17), up 3.4% Year-on-Year (YoY) from Rs 923.6 crore. ZEEL spent Rs 104.9 crore during the quarter for advertising and promotions, which is down from Rs 119.7 crore in the same quarter last year. The company’s ad revenues accounted for 58% of the total revenue for the quarter, down marginally from 56% in the previous quarter. Out of the total advertising revenue for the quarter, only Rs 81.7 crore accounted for international advertising revenue, while the rest Rs 873.7 crore accounted for domestic advertising revenue. Subscription revenue stood at Rs 593.5 crore for Q3 FY17, up 13.7% YoY from Rs 521.7 crore. Subscription revenue represented 36% of the total revenue for the quarter, up from 32% in the same quarter last year. During this quarter, ZEEL’s domestic subscription revenues stood at Rs 481.8 crore while the international subscription revenue was Rs 111.7 crore. Revenue from other sales and services, which include syndication sales, film distribution, commission on sales, play out & transmission services, facility usage income, stood at Rs 90.2 crore in Q3-FY17, down 35.5% YoY from Rs 139.9 crore. The other sales and services segment represented 6% of the total revenue for the quarter, down from 9% in the same quarter last year.
