Meta travel aggregator Ixigo has acqui-hired the mobile content sharing app ‘Reach’ for an undisclosed amount. Post acquisition, the Reach team will join ixigo to provide travellers “consumable content & entertainment in the travel space.” Launched in 2015, Reach had a mobile app that allowed its used to browse and download music, games, apps and other content directly from their friend’s mobile devices. The company had also raised around $500k of funding in 2016 from Rebright Partners and others. However, post acquisition, the company’s will no longer maintain its app. Note that ixigo has been adding a repertoire of services to its portfolio. It seems intent on building an all inclusive travel service since it lists pretty much all aspects of travel. Last month the company tied up with Spicejet, Musafir and Kiwi to expand travel options, and had partnered with Uber and redBus to let its users book cabs and buses, in October. Last year the company launched intercity cab booking with 250 intercity cab operators, rolled out Ixibaba, an artificial intelligence (AI) based chatbot which would answer simple questions related to all travel planning and booking queries, launched ixibook, a service which would allow users to book flights and hotels on the ixigo app and launched an Android app called ixigo Cabs which would aggregate cab info from places near users.
