Reliance Jio has silently entered ecommerce segment by listing its LYF smartphones and JioFi 4G hotspot device on the Jio.com portal. Previously it used to sell these devices at its Digital Express, Reliance Digital offline stores and through tie ups with other retail distributors. Ecommerce portals like Flipkart, Snapdeal, and Ebay also sells LYF devices online. Currently the Jio.com portal lists only 4 different LYF smartphones which are Reliance’s recent launches. It claims deliver shipments 3-5 business days and a 7-day “easy replacement” in case the device gets damaged or found to be defective. MediaNama has written to Jio asking if it plans it list more devices in the future. Reliance Jio owns the LYF smartphone brand which was launched in the first quarter of this year. All LYF devices support 4G LTE and the devices hit the market just in time for Jio’s commercial 4G service launch in September with free calls and data as promo offer. This month Jio extended the free offer up till March 2017. Interestingly, research firm IDC pointed out that LYF was the fifth largest smartphone vendor in India in terms of shipments accounting for 20.9% of overall shipments (32.3 million) in Q3 2016.
