Idea upgrades 3G data packs to provide more data
Idea Cellular is offering more data under the existing 2G and 3G packs for subscribers in Kerala circle, reports TelecomTalk. MediaNama has written to Idea asking if this is extended to more circles; we will update the story once we hear from them.
-Rs 36 2G data pack now gives 180 MB 2G data (28 days) instead of 120 MB.
-Rs 46 pack will now provide 150 MB of 3G data valid for 28 days, instead of the earlier 120 MB.
-Rs 69 pack will offer 1 GB of 3G data for 15 days, instead of the earlier 280 MB for 7 days.
-Rs 249 pack offers 1.5 GB of 3G data (28 days) instead of 1 GB.
-Rs 449 pack provides 3.5 GB of 3G data (28 days) instead of 3GB.
-Rs 649 pack will provide 5.5 GB of 3G data (28 days) instead of 5GB.
-Rs 849 data pack now offers 7.5 GB (28 days) data instead of 7GB.
Idea is currently in the process of upgrading all its 17 circles to 3G by March 2017. It currently has 4G in 10 service areas, and plans on upgrading 9 more service areas to 4G by March 2017. In July, Idea Cellular had reduced the tariffs of its prepaid 2G, 3G and 4G internet packs across all circles.
Aircel offers 2GB of 3G data for Rs 178 in Karnataka
Aircel introduced a new 3G data pack of Rs 178 that offers 2GB of data valid for 28 days for users in Karnataka circle. The operator earlier priced 2GB 3G data packs starting at Rs 255 in Karnataka circle. This is effectively a 30% cut down in prices, while the pack makes 1GB of data available for Rs 89 for Karnataka subscribers.
Earlier Aircel introduced 3G booster packs wherein subscribers were offered with 1 GB of 3G data starting from Rs 24 with a validity of 28 days by initially charging users Rs 329 as an upfront charge. The Rs 329 pack provides 2GB of 3G data with a validity of 28 days. More here. In September it unveiled unlimited calling packs across all networks via a recharge pack costing Rs 449 with a validity for 29 days.
Vodafone starts testing unlimited calling packs
Vodafone India has unveiled unlimited local calling packs for Mumbai and Maharashtra subscribers bundled with data starting at Rs 297, reports TelecomTalk. The Rs 297 pack will provide 3GB of 4G/3G data with unlimited local calls in Mumbai, Maharashtra and Goa circles. There was no official statement about this, but was given out as promo offers to select users, according to the report.
Post Jio launch, which promised subscribers that it won’t be charging users for voice call on its network, rival operators including Airtel, Idea and Vodafone followed suit by offering unlimited voice calling plans. In August Airtel unveiled ‘Infinity Plans’ Prepaid plans at denomination of Rs 949, Rs 1,199, Rs 1599, Rs 1999, and Rs 2999. These bundled packs offers 4G data along with unlimited calling across al circles. More here.
Last month, Vodafone started offering 1 GB data packs at Rs 55 by charging subscribers an initial booster pack of Rs 1501 valid for up to 12 months. The initial Rs 1501 recharge also offers 15 GB of data for up to 30 days, while a subscriber can make unlimited number of 1GB recharges for Rs 55 in the 12 months validity period.
