ScoopWhoop Media has appointed Meghana Bhat as its chief strategy officer. Bhat will be responsible for the brand in the B2B space, content marketing and native advertising with brands and advertisers. She previously worked as the National Creative Director and COO for over a year and executive creative director for about 6 years at Webchutney and as a creative supervisor at Wizcraft International Entertainment for 2 years. She has worked with brands like Bacardi, Coca Cola, MasterCard and Unilever among others.
Newslaundry tie up
In May this year, ScoopWhoop partnered with political news and analysis website Newslaundry to launch a web series called Chase on YouTube. At the time, Sattvik Mishra, the co-founder of ScoopWhoop, told MediaNama that the company planned to get into regular documentary ‘programming’.
In November last year, the portal raised $4 million in a round of funding from Kalaari Capital, which it would use to expand ScoopWhoop Talkies, its video production unit. At that time, it claimed to have over 20 million unique visitors with over 70 million page views and 10 million video views per month. In November 2014, ScoopWhoop raised $1.6 million from Bharti Softbank (BSB) in exchange for a 36.5% stake.
