Oyo Rooms has appointed Anil Goel as its chief technology officer. Goel will head the technology strategy and R&D teams at the company. Goel joins Oyo from Amazon, where he worked as the director of engineering and head of technology for customer returns and reverse logistics for 3 years. Prior to that, he was the CTO of Hike, CTO and product management head at HyperQuality, Inc, practice director at Sogeti, general manager at RealNetworks, principal consultant at CapGemini and a systems analyst at TCS. Goel has over 22 years of experience. Funding: Oyo said that it was planning to raise Rs 413 crore by a proposed rights issue of shares to its current shareholders. It was also planning to buy back shares worth Rs 60 crore from some of its investors. In August 2015, the company raised $100 million in a funding round led by SoftBank group and from existing investors Greenoaks Capital, Sequoia Capital and Lightspeed India. In March 2015, it raised $20 million. In July, Oyo tied up with Travelport to let listed travel agencies access 6,000 Oyo hotel properties. In February, it acquired its rival Zo Rooms.
